Historic Route 66 - Gateway to the Grand Canyon
A perfect weekend getaway into northern pine country, ARTober fest kicks off festival season two weekends before Halloween. There are no tricks only treats at this multi-faceted event. Locally-inspired, the show takes place in Williams’ famed historic district featuring arts, crafts, and gourmet food exhibitors.
Tom Williams of Twisted Horn Forge was the official featured artist of 2017. Part blacksmith, welder, and avid recycler, Williams sculpted metal designs are inspired by natural and organic forms. He has won “Best in Show” and “Elegance” Awards at the Flagstaff Recycled art show.
Live music from the Mother Road Trio on Saturday and Sunday rounded out the entertainment at the 2017 event. Featuring upright bass, guitar and harmonica, the national act is known for playing American originals and covers plus a lively mix of blues country standards, old time jazz, mo-town, rock and swing.
A year round heaven for outdoor adventurers, the small, railroad town comes alive during festival weekends. All Magic Bird festivities are conveniently located within walking distance of the Grand Canyon Railway and the pumpkin picking patch.
ARToberfest also includes a food court featuring an array of gourmet eats. Additional dining options and adult beverages will be available at nearby establishments including local beers at the Grand Canyon Brewery Company.
